About Me

...elevating the employee experience...

Servant Leader

Equipped with more than 20 years of strategic management experience under her belt, Julie Brown intentionally armed herself with a unique combination of cross-functional knowledge and savvy leadership skills. With this, she can provide any client with a full spectrum of HR support capable of driving organizational objectives for companies with large diverse workforces of 500+ employees in multiple locations.

The road Julie walked to get here began when she left Amite, La., the home of the oyster festival, for Los Angeles, where she earned her associate’s degree in fashion merchandising from Brooks College of Fashion and Design and her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the American Intercontinental University. While earning those degrees, she enjoyed an amazing career with Gap, Inc. where she opened herself up to the world of retail and human resources. In this capacity, Julie’s superpowers for increasing employee engagement, providing professional new-hire training, helping managers increase their productivity, and changing the safety culture of business emerged.

Career Champion

She further sharpened those skills back home in Louisiana after Katrina hit the region. Julie relocated to the area feeling compelled to be close to family. While there, she connected with the JC Penney company as an assistant store manager of operations for its new location in Hammond, La. However, this became grueling work that snatched her nights and hijacked her weekends, so much so that Julie decided one day to leave it behind.

Needing a break, she worked in the nonprofit sector helping women re-enter the workforce. Here, Julie sharpened her people and training skills. She learned that she shined best when she helped others shine as well. Goal setting, career management, and job readiness workshops happily filled Julie’s days.

When the federal government shut down in 2014, Julie saw this as an opportunity to reassess her work options. With a career coach, she found a new way to re-imagine herself as a performance development manager — essentially a corporate trainer. Utilizing every skill she had developed thus far, Julie’s new position with Marriot International, Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, in the Southern Region pushed her completely out of her comfort zone, and she thrived. Here, Julie realized her dream of being someone who knew how to inspire, motivate, and cultivate the human spirit within employees allowing them to discover their own superpowers.

Now, Julie brings her wealth of knowledge to clients through her own company J. Brown Consulting, an HR consulting firm poised to elevate the employee experience and specialize in building teams and talent. From team building and leadership development to service excellence and professional presence, J. Brown Consulting offers courses designed to give participants a strong foundation for success.
